MissPlaced
We moved to America to begin new chapters in our lives. We created this blog to discuss our experiences as expats. More importantly, we hope to inspire, help, and connect with women around the globe that have left their homelands in search of new beginnings.
Endless questions arise after embarking on this journey. Sleepless nights are spent wondering what the future holds
– What will happen to me?
– Will I get married, have kids, and form a bilingual family?
– Will I become a stay-at-home mom?
– Will I accept (or be forced to accept) an underpaid or unfulfilling job?
– Will I be able to advance my career path in a foreign country?
– Will I have to go back to school?
– How will I juggle these challenges in order to regain my identity and feel comfortable in my new home?
This website is not a forum to criticize life choices. Instead, our mission is to explore the opportunities available to female expats.
Over the years, we have met many brilliant women that relocated to the US. Despite diverse backgrounds and immigration processes, nearly all of these ladies have voiced similar fears and insecurities. Whether you feel lost in a sea of foreigners or lost in an endless list of job postings that don’t fit your background, we want to support you.
We love to follow websites and blogs about career goals, economics, and self-improvement to help us navigate life in America. Although there are many wonderful blogs devoted to the touristy aspects of living abroad, international students, and expat mothers, there seems to be a lack of content dedicated to female immigrants’ professional aspirations , finances, and personal development.
Accordingly, we are thrilled to launch “MissPlaced”.
MissPlaced is an online community that will allow us to share our stories, connect with interesting people, and offer resources to immigrant women.
Our philosophy is to share our experiences and help immigrant women – regardless of background and foreign destination – succeed in their professional lives, make informed financial decisions, and feel empowered to conquer their new surroundings and lifestyles.
We will explore a wide range of topics such as finance, career paths, family, education. We also look forward to topic requests submitted by the MissPlaced community!
As we are both immigrants, our goal is to put our minds and souls together to develop new strategies and overcome cross-cultural barriers. Together, we will uncover ways to embrace the American culture and transform our identities.
Xoxo,
